2019 - 2017

From 2017 to 2019  Capokolam is delivering educational arts programs around Sri Lanka on the theme of 'FEMALE POWER' - shakhti.

With 4 different communities, volunteers are collaborating with local partners including the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM).  Capokolam is delivering programs of Capoeira, English, art, dance, yoga, sports, & leadership activities with its inimitable focus on creativity, confidence, & social justice. Young people from different marginalized communities are conducting field visits together by way of social learning & a cultural exchange, culminating in performances & exhibitions.

These resilient survivors have endured the horrors of natural disaster & civil war, & struggle with poverty, limited education, & a lack of psycho-social support. Our program has proven lasting physical, emotional, & communal benefits; laughter, learning, expression, awareness, confidence, & empowerment.

Since 2015 Capokolam has successfully collaborated with over 500 young Sri Lankans, and placed over 42 international and Sri Lankan artists and educators. Visit our Facebook for photos, news & information.
